philosophy

Our belief is that elegant and thorough design will produce the most effective results.

This applies equally to both presentation and system architecture. We strive for simplicity. When faced with complexity, we analyse, refine, and remodel, until we have a design that is clear and intuitive. We believe that such design will produce benefits which greatly exceed the cost of design.

design

In designing a web page, form, or report, we aim to combine visual appeal with ease of use and suitability for purpose. The user should be lead by the graphics. It should be easy to identify immediately the required input, or route to the information sought.

This results is efficient use, and reduced user fatigue.

The design may encompass original artwork, layout, navigation, structure, and integration with systems of any type: in every aspect, we take the time to achieve elegance and accuracy.

website design

deepSystems design web sites and user interfaces that are friendly and immediately informative. we believe that the subject of a site or interface should be obvious from the moment you start viewing it . The graphic layout should be easy to interpret and it should be easy to read . A user should never have to search for an explanation of content, the explanation should always be available. The navigation of a site should be intuitive, and the user should be lead through the site or interface by the graphics. Style should never become more important than content. The needs of the end user must at all times be the driving force behind the design .

system design

We believe that system design is the most important element in system development.

We ask for detailed information on your requirements, then we analyse these requirements rigorously . Through careful consultation with those who have requested the system, and with those who will use it, we arrive at a suggested solution. This solution should address your needs precisely, giving you no more, and no less, than you require.

The system design should be elegant and simple. Disparate systems should be integrated into one cohesive whole. Data should be entered once only, should be stored in one place only (other than for backup), and should be available wherever required. The system should enforce accurate input. Users should be led through their tasks. Tasks should be simplified and automated wherever feasible and cost effective.

Such attention to design will produce an efficient system, which will be built and implemented quickly and easily, and will be simple and intuitive to use.

The results will be increased efficiency in your operations, more and better information available, and less work to do. In short, more satisfaction, and less stress, for everyone involved.

don't re-invent the wheel

We don't believe in "reinventing the wheel", but take a "building block" approach to system creation. We make use of a suite of our own modular application units, when creating a custom system, to minimise the programming and testing required.

This enables us to develop sophisticated systems rapidly.

open and standard technology

We believe in the use of open standards, and support these in our system development work. In particular, we use standard internet technologies, both to provide websites and internal systems. These technologies are relatively simple, universally used, and very robust.

Further, we support the open-source model of software development. We use industry standard open-source software to develop our systems. Everything is built using open-source tools on open-source foundations. Our own modular application units are released as open-source software.

This promises reliability, and keeps our costs down, and yours.

efficient use of resources

We aim to minimise waste of resources, by encouraging and facilitating electronic invoicing, communication, and storage of documents. When necessary, our systems can print documents directly as part of the system workflow, but otherwise reports and other documents are delivered to a browser, spreadsheet, or document viewer program, or are emailed, or texted (SMS), as appropriate. Rather than print multiple copies of, for example, invoices, we store them electronically, and give you the facility to print copies on demand. This minimises printing, paper handling, and storage costs.

We also encourage the use of thin clients and low energy technologies, such as LCD displays, to reduce environmental impact, space requirements, and your hardware purchase and running costs.

we practice what we preach

We practice what we preach. We follow our own methodologies in automating and integrating and managing our own business. We prototype our philosophies and technologies on ourselves.

This brings us efficiencies which we pass on to you.

deep people

Deep is a partnership of professionals with backgrounds in graphic design, system design, programming, business administration and accountancy. We use our our own server-based systems to provide a "virtual workplace" which enables us to work together effectively, from several dispersed locations.

We also see our clients as deep people and invite you to communicate with us, and monitor what we are doing for you, via the interactive services on this website.
